The PUA50120 Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management) is designed for personnel undertaking emergency management responsibilities at an incident, emergency or disaster. This will include the coordination of resources, personnel and entities as well as the coordination of activities with other organisations. This qualification includes the units of competency required by personnel for performing a range of activities such as planning and the coordination of activities for an incident, emergency or disaster. This supports prevention of, preparedness for, response to and recovery from such events.

Assessments at AQF Level 5 will be provided

Entry Requirements:

There are no pre-requisites for this course. Expected level of student skills: It is expected students have a level of digital literacy to access information, communicate and complete training and assessment activities using a computer/tablet and our online learning platform. Students will be required to complete a number of tasks independently, and to have the skills to manage their own time and study. At the diploma level students are expected to be able to research and analyse information, and to apply knowledge to real world situations. Students will be required to independently read and understand a range of different documents including legislation, plans and policies, guidebooks and articles. Students are also required to develop written documentation, including risk assessments, action plans, logs and reports. A key skill for this program is the ability to effectively communicate with others in English, including in time critical and stressful situations. Technology requirements: Students require access to a computer/tablet device with word processing software, internet browser and email account. An internet connection is also required. A webcam/microphone and speakers (or headset) will be needed for any virtual meetings. ACIM Solutions may be able to assist you with access to a computer device if you do not have options for meeting this requirement.

RPL application Recognition of prior learning is available on this qualification. If you have employment experience in this area, you may apply for recognition or prior learning. You will need to be able to provide evidence of your employment experience and the ACIM RPL team will assist you through the RPL process. Please contact us for our RPL Kit. Credit transfer is also available for this qualification. This qualification allows for two (2) elective units to be imported from another endorsed training package or accredited course. All elective units selected from outside this qualification must be from an equivalent qualification level or higher. Electives units selected must not duplicate content already covered by other units in this qualification. If you have done previous study in this qualification or an equivalent, you can provide a copy of your transcript/s from your earlier study and ACIM will conduct a credit assessment.
