The program provides participants with training in the essential skills and knowledge required when working in an emergency management environment. This includes general management skills combined with a specific focus on working with the community and other key stakeholders prior to, during and after an emergency incident.
Course Code: PUA50119 Course Duration: Workshops are designed for delivery over a 12 month period. Flexible options or blended delivery is also available for people who would like to complete the program more quickly. Enrolment is open for 18 months. The Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management) is a qualification specifically targeted at participants who are looking to gain or improve their skills in emergency management. This course provides the participant with a broad base skill set for working in the emergency management environment. These skills include Communication, Team Work, Problem Solving, Initiative and Enterprise, Planning and Organising, Self Management, Learning and Technology.
Participants will be empowered by this course and will be equipped to work in a multi-agency team responding to emergencies which occur in the community. Participants will gain a nationally recognised qualification in the Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management) PUA50119
Assessment will be a combination of Demonstration/role-plays, Written reports/Case Studies and Journals, Projects, Knowledge/Tests and a Workplace Supervisors Report.
There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Recognition of prior learning is available on this qualification. If you have employment experience in this area, you may apply for recognition or prior learning. You will need to be able to provide evidence of your employment experience and the ACIM RPL team will assist you through the RPL process.
Credit transfer is also available for this qualification. This qualification allows for two (2) elective units to be imported from another endorsed training package or accredited course. All elective units selected from outside this qualification must be from an equivalent qualification level or higher. Electives units selected must not duplicate content already covered by other units in this qualification.
